2nd Annual Morton BBQ Throwdown July 27 & 28

An Event to Benefit the Illinois CancerCare Foundation
Featuring Live Music, Crafts, Kids Activities, and Beer Garden

The 2nd Annual Morton BBQ Throwdown is now KCBS Certified and will be following the KCBS rules. Click HERE for rules. The contest has relocated to downtown Morton, IL. A map of the contest area will be posted soon.

All competitors will have approx a 20’x20’ area to cook in. 20’x40’ spaces are available for an additional $25.00. The larger spaces are first come first serve.

Water will be available, but not at each site.

Electricity (20amp outlets) will be available for each space. Competitors will need to bring a minimum 50’ extension cord for power.

.Health Department Regulations
Our contestants must abide by the Tazewell County Health Department rules. All competitors must have a three compartment wash station, a spray bottle with bleach water (one cap of bleach for one gallon of water) and a free flowing spigot of water with a catch bucket and soap for washing hands. (water cooler or similar is acceptable).
All meat must be kept below 40 degrees prior to cooking.

PEOPLE'S CHOICE
People’s Choice will be for pork butt only. Each team will cook 3 butts provided free to them for blind judging by the public. The winner will receive a trophy. Each team competing in the people’s choice will be required to fill out a health department form. Click HERE for form. The event will be paying for all licensing fees. This is a free category

We are bringing in 2 instructors from Kansas City to conduct this class. If you want to judge events or just learn what the judges are looking for, this a great opportunity. These classes fill up very quickly so don’t wait too long.
